{"id":1963,"date":"2021-05-18T10:51:43","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T08:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/?p=1963"},"modified":"2021-06-08T13:41:28","modified_gmt":"2021-06-08T11:41:28","slug":"april-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/april-2021","title":{"rendered":"We Crossed $10k MRR and New Features for Friendly Automate: Open Startup Report April 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Our revenue increased by +24% to $10,997, we expanded the functionality of Friendly Automate and we are happy to announce a new partnership: welcome to our Open Startup report for April 2021.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><meta charset=\"utf-8\">April at Friendly in the Numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>\ud83d\udcb5 MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue): $10,997 (+24%)<\/li><li>\ud83e\udd1d New Customers: 11 (+57%)<\/li><li>\ud83e\udd29 Upgrades: 1 (+100%)<\/li><li>\ud83d\udc94 Churn (cancellations): 3 (-25%)<\/li><li>\ud83d\udc69 Active customers: 70 (+13%)<\/li><li>\ud83d\udc4b New Trials: 9 (-47%)<\/li><li>\ud83d\udd0e Website Visits: 1,925 (-42%)<\/li><li>\ud83d\udcee Emails Sent (Automate): 685,386 (-13%)<\/li><li>\ud83d\udcc8 Pageviews Tracked (Analytics): 1,045,984 (+7%)<\/li><li>\ud83d\udcb8 Costs: $12,471 (+21%)<\/li><li>\ud83e\uddfe Profit and Loss: -$1,474 (-1%)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what moved us in&nbsp;April:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revenue increased by +24%, loss decreased by -1%<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Already in March, our monthly recurring revenue (MRR) increased strongly by +15%. April even exceeded this growth with +24% to $10,997, crossing $10k MRR!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our costs increased <meta charset=\"utf-8\">by +21% to $12,471. This was firstly due to the fact that we had custom software developed by freelancers for the first time. These are plugins that extend the functionality of Friendly Automate (Mautic). We will release these plugins as open source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secondly, Friendly became an <a href=\"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/friendly-llc\">independent company<\/a> in January. Some costs such as accounting and office rent were previously covered by Wortspiel LLC, from which Friendly emerged. Since April, Friendly now bears these costs itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are all our costs in April in detail:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1054\" height=\"1112\" src=\"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/friendly-costs-april-2021.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1967\" srcset=\"https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/friendly-costs-april-2021.jpg 1054w, https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/friendly-costs-april-2021-284x300.jpg 284w, https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/friendly-costs-april-2021-540x570.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1054px) 100vw, 1054px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Friendly Automate: new multi-domain functionality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All our products are <a href=\"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/manifesto\">based on open source<\/a>. In April we developed custom software for the first time. A new plugin improves the support of <a href=\"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/automate\">Friendly Automate<\/a> (Mautic) for multiple domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many reasons for companies to use multiple domains: be it for different products or for country-specific sites (.ch domain for Switzerland, .de domain for Germany, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, it was already possible to send emails from different domains. However, the unsubscribe link and the tracking links always led to the main domain of the instance. This was not ideal for the deliverability of the emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the new plugin, the unsubscribe link and tracking links automatically correspond to the sender domain, which increases the reputation of the email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will release the plugin as open source so that all users of Mautic can benefit from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Friendly became a partner of Mautic &#8211; as one of only 5 companies worldwide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/mautic-partner\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1574\" height=\"826\" src=\"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/mautic-partner-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1892\" srcset=\"https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/mautic-partner-3.png 1574w, https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/mautic-partner-3-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/mautic-partner-3-1536x806.png 1536w, https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/mautic-partner-3-540x283.png 540w, https:\/\/friendly.ch\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/mautic-partner-3-1080x567.png 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1574px) 100vw, 1574px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><meta charset=\"utf-8\"><a href=\"https:\/\/friendly.is\/en\/automate\">Friendly Automate<\/a> is based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mautic.org\/\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mautic<\/a>, the most popular open-source marketing automation software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><meta charset=\"utf-8\">In April, Mautic launched an official partner program. As <strong>one of only five companies worldwide<\/strong>, Friendly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mautic.org\/mautic-community-partners\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">qualified for partner status<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Joey goes Africa &#8211; at least a little bit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The major Nigerian city of Lagos has a very active community on Mautic, on which Friendly Automate is based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This community meets at the regular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/Mautic-Meetup-Lagos\/\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mautic Meetup Lagos<\/a>.
